Let it be known that I am not a connoisseur of art. Michael and I visited the Met yesterday before we left New York City and it struck me that you could put anything up on the walls, call it art and I really would not know the difference. I began to wonder how many people really can tell the difference? Are people born with an eye for art or is it something that you learn?
I have definite opinions about websites and web design, probably due to my work with the medium over the past 12 years and to the education that I received from my friends at Genex. Maybe it is like that with people who have opinions about art. Someone, somewhere taught them about what was good and why.

Coloring Book or NYC Skyline?
Jeff Koons: Fine Artist or Con Artist?
There seem to be strong opinions on both sides. Regardless of your viewpoint there were lots of people on the rooftop at the Met taking pictures and doing what people do when they view art.
There are three sculptures, Sacred Heart, Balloon Dog and Coloring Book, all made from stainless steel with colored coatings. They look like large cellophane balloons. The most interesting aspect to me was how they reflected the people and skyline. According to CBS Sunday Morning, Koons designs the art and his studio artists of whom there are about 100, actually do the work to build them. Does this detract from the vision or the result? Why does it matter?
There are lots of opinions out on the web about the exhibit. More seemed to be negative than positive. Why argue about it… get out there and take a look. If you don’t enjoy the sculptures, you will enjoy the view of the New York skyline over Central Park.
